Spring Cleaning: Boys' Room

Today was the day I had scheduled to clean the boys' room and although it took longer than I expected, I am pleased with the results. Sportster helped me a bit. I am hoping that since he helped to make it better, he will take more ownership in keeping it looking better. It took about an hour and a half, not including laundry and ironing time. I likely could have done it faster without "help", but that is just part of being a mom, right?!

Here is what we did:
- washed and ironed curtains
- changed and washed sheets and crib bedskirt
- remade the beds
- washed walls, baseboards, doors and crib
- washed window inside and out and the sill
- vacuumed
- dusted
- moved the crib
- rehung a clock that has needed a new battery for about 6 months
- sorted through random toys and stuff that was all over the floor
- moved and cleaned under the bunkbed
- sorted through clothes and removed anything that didn't fit
- tidied up the changing area

Most satisfying improvement: cleaning the window and figuring and finding that our windows are actually very easy to remove and clean.

It feels good to have completed my first room of this event. The before and after pictures are below.

Before - facing the bed

Before - facing the closet

After - facing the crib
After - facing the closet (curtains are usually closed)

After - facing the bed

Rachel - this looks great! I love that your son helped you and, like you, hope it will help motivate him to keep it that way! :) Great job!

The room looks real nice. I like the idea of putting the changing table in the closet. I like the closet curtains. Did you have a bad pinch?
